Time Management Skills to Help You Use Time More Wisely

How would you rate your time management skills? Excellent? Fair? Absolutely horrible? The fact of the matter is that many people have very poor habits when it comes to time. Even though most of us run through our day at full speed there still doesn't seem to be enough time to get everything done.This doesn't have to be your reality for the rest of your life. If you want to start to address your issues with time management a shift in your mindset is necessary.

You've got to recondition your brain to take in the idea that being efficient is all about managing your time wisely and and it's also about self management. The wonderful thing is once you master your new skill, you will become more organized, efficient and happier.

Time management skills include, but are not limited to, the following: goal setting, planning, prioritizing, decision making, delegating and scheduling.

Here are a few habits that people with excellent time management skills practice.

- They are constantly aware of how much time they are allotting to daily/weekly tasks. They actually jot down how much time they spent doing a particular task. This will give you a better idea of where your time and energy is going. You are then able to identify ways to improve efficiency and productivity, so that next week you are less likely to waste time.

- People with great time management habits always schedule breaks. Get into the habit of scheduling regular breaks. This way your force yourself to take a break at a specific time and you are less likely to fool around during your working hours if you know that you have a scheduled break time approaching.

Why not try to infuse these time management habits into your daily routine and stick to it until it becomes a natural practice. You will find that you will be more successful in completing various tasks and will be amazed and how much more organised your life will be.
